I grew up eating home cooked meals and where food was love.
I learned my way around the kitchen by baking with my Mom, Aunt and Grandmothers. My mom made sure that all of our meals were homemade and she instilled in me a passion for cooking, baking, and spreading love through food. Growing up, our dinners consisted of meat & potatoes, traditional casseroles, and hearty family favorites.
Now that I have a family of my own, living in Austin, Texas, I still believe most days should end with a home cooked meal — a meal where the ingredients are fresh, the food is flavorful and it’s all made with love.
I love to cook, bake and entertain. Often times when I cook or bake, I’m usually asked for the recipe or questioned on how I balance all my time in the kitchen with the rest of my life. With this blog, I hope to share my recipes and share how I live a balanced life — juggling work, food, fitness and friends here in Austin, Texas.
My style of cooking is a mix of healthier family favorites from my childhood to traditional Tex-Mex representing my new Austin roots, and a bit of international cuisine including Indian and Thai. I also have a sweet tooth that I have yet to outgrow, so dessert is always a given.
Since I know it’s not realistic to cook every night, you’ll also get a sampling of my favorite restaurants in Austin as well as posts that highlight my favorite new foodie, kitchen, or life finds and I’ll share snip-its of my favorite wine and cocktails, meal plans or quick entertaining ideas that you can hopefully transition to your own life.
