Easy, no refrigerate cutout cookie dough!
Serves: 2 dozen
Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks), softened
  • 1½ cups confectioner's sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla or almond extract
  • 2½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, whip the softened butter until cream.
  2. Add in the confectioner's sugar and continue creaming another 1 to 2 minutes.
  3. Once thoroughly combined, add in the egg and flavoring of choice.
  4. Mix until well combined.
  5. Add in the baking powder, salt an 1 cup of flour.
  6. Continue mixing and adding in the remaining flour as two separate additions.
  7. The dough should start to come together, though it may appear crumbly at the to bottom.
  8. Turn the dough out onto a floured countertop and work the dough together.
  9. If it's too wet, add additional flour (up to ¼ cup) until the dough forms together.
  10. Roll the dough out to ¼ inch thick and cut cookies into desired shapes.
  11. Bake the cookies on a cookie sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat for 5-7 minutes until lightly golden around the edges.
  12. Remove from the oven and let cool on the cookie tray 1-2 minutes.
  13. Transfer to paper towels or a wire rack to cool completely before frosting.
